I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as canine, is in fact, vulpine/canine, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, canid. Fennekin is not a canine unto itself, but rather another associated species of a fully functioning Vulpes genus made useful by the Canidae family and omnivorous diet comprising a proper fox as defined by Carl Linnaeus.
Many dog fuckers fuck a variation of the canids every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the canine which is widely fucked today is often called “Braixen”, and many of its users are not aware that it is actually vulpine, also part of the Canidae family. There really are dogs, and there are people fucking them, but it is just another member of the taxonomic family they use.
Foxes and dogs together are canids: the family comprising both genuses. The genus is an essential part of identifying a Pokémon, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete taxonomy. Foxes are normally posted in combination with doggos: the whole thread is basically dogs with foxes added, or canid. All the so-called “canine” foxes are really vulpine.
