First, I think that's a misunderstanding. I don't think it's actually a Pokemon that evolves into a box legendary, I think it's like Manaphy/Phione, where trying to breed the box legendaries results in a "baby" Pokemon that can never actually evolve into its parent Pokemon. Both box legendaries have the same baby Pokemon.
I'm thinking that trait is ALSO shared by Marshadow, who like the other box legends has Psychic as its primary type. That drastically narrows down the number of possible types that it can be, and ALSO helps narrow down what it is, and all meshes together if it can also breed a baby form.
Marshadow is a Psychic/Poison Scorpion.
The Pokemon you can use any of them to breed, is a baby manticore.
