I normally don't use legendaries but I love the regi (including regigigas), don't know if it's a dick move to use them in game and online though

Regice is my favorite legendary by far. I don't know what it is about him but its just so cool to me and I fucking love the color his shiny is. But the other two are cool too.

I'm not the biggest fan of its design. But I'm glad it exists, it was nice to see them reference previous legendaries a generation later, it makes the pokemon world a bit more connected.

It's pretty much always been the rule of thumb that trio legends are alright to use. People only began to question that rule when gen 5 gave us two trios, both of which were horrible designs (two of the genies were saved by therian formes)

If you're talking about huge exposition dumps like the ones ORAS was plagued with, no thanks. I just want legendary encounters to be something with more effort put in than just a roaming pokemon or a random legendary sitting in a cave somewhere. Regis stood out because you had to decipher and complete the riddles just to access them. I would actually be fine with the ridiculous amount of legendaries added in Gen V if you had to "earn" them.

Did you not played ruby/sapphire?

Regis were referenced by npcs, however you never learned the why or what they were until you talked to several npcs and managed to find the cave and go from there.
They just sounded like random npc babbling until you find the cave and connect the dots.
