This. The whole thing with Gamefreak trying to pretend they aren't Pokemon is the same as when they pretended Mewtwo Y was an entirely new Pokemon. It's to build hype and questions that are ultimately meaningless.

We'll play the game, and at the end it'll be revealed that they were just weird, angry Pokemon all along.

Only one that's weird is UB 01 because it's literally just a hat and hair, but it can transform thankfully.
