Ash was incompetent as fuck and freshly made 10 years old again in BW. They also changed the art style to be rounder and make Ash look more child like, and hypersaturated the colors while they were at it.
And now they're going from competent XY chuuni posing Ash with sideburns to a goofy kid arm-flailing Ash. Even his cheek Zs are rounded. It feels like a real kick-to-the-dick step backwards.
