Also, what on earth would you want? You could describe every single starter as "literally just a--" They all fit this stupid rubric. Oshawott is literally just an otter. Tepig is literally just a pig. Chimchar is literally just a monkey. I don't demand 'uniqueness' in every pokemon, not everything has to be based on 9 different conflicting conceptual things mashed into one stupid color palette, and dressed in spikes; like I said, I prefer reserved designs.
I like things that have a sense of considered resolution about them--which brings me to "literally just a fox"
It's literally, literally not just a fox, it's the most ridiculous starter of the bunch. Fennekin's head is larger than the entire rest of its fucking body. It's head is nearly IDENTICAL to Braixen's head for some reason, like a fucking mascot costume, stapled onto a bland body. It looks WILDLY disproportionate, and to be fucking frank, like total absolute furfag bait. No bueno. Doesn't even look like a fox. Squirtle looks like just a [what it is supposed to be]. Fennekin looks like what a fursona artist would make [what its supposed to be] look like.
These are my spicy opinions.
