I never understood why you couldn't even give nicknames to traded Pokemon who were never given a nickname to begin with. Why?

One time when I was 12, I caught an Altaria in Ruby that took over 40 ultra balls to catch. I named it 'IDIOT!!!!'. Would hate for someone to receive that Altaria, lol.

I know it makes some people mad but I nickname all the breeding leftovers I trade away. When you receive a Pokemon without a name it's easy to just shove it in a box and let it rot but I like to think that when you give a Pokemon a good name you're sending off it with the wish that it will become something special to the person receiving it.

A bigger pet peeve of mine is how the game doesn't automatically translate a Pokémon's name if you traded with someone abroad. Okay, cool, if it's not nicknamed, it'll revert to my language when I evolve it. If it doesn't evolve then I'm stuck with Lecroissant the Kangaskhan.

When I get single stage mons with foreign names I usually just breed them, especially if it's just for the living dex. If they're actually for pve I just treat them as fancy nicknames.

Most of the time I only have time to play late at night. I've played in the mornings and in the middle of the day on occasions and it's all the same.

I got used to it, but man does it suck to do a wonder trade and get something with characters I don't even recognize as a name.
