>>28582491I can see what you mean. It's the more rounded eyes and "softer" art style, I'd wager. Even Wattson came out looking more doughy and, well, Staypuft Marshmallow Man-like is the best way I can describe it.
I was fine with it personally, but I can see why it might rub you the wrong way. I think some actually benefited from the redesign, like Winona, who went from having a fairly generic face to a much more calm and refined look to her.
But then you have Brawly, who they went a little overboard in making him look youthful. Which is a shame, since the conceptual artwork of him looks pretty dang good, but the final design gave him those HUGE eyes that sort of punches it down a notch or two.
When it comes to Flannery, I'm split on the redesign. The bell bottom pants look a bit goofy, but I love the belt/strap holding them up. And while a tank top and vest combo is top fucking notch, I liked the simplicity of just a generously short grey shirt.
At least they kept the palm tree hair virtually untouched, so I have no reason to complain on any meaningful capacity.
