It's about the fact they are copying YW and YWs influence over Pokemon competing with them. YW is dying but need to burn faster. Hopefully yw 2s US release fails.

Dude Pokemon is not copying YW just because they released a wrist toy, it's a good business model to have merchandise to accompany a game and Pokemon has been doing it for years. Next thing you're gonna tell me Pokemon copied yugioh too since they're both games about monsters and they both have wrist peripheral toys.

It'll sell to kids but it seems unnecessary. I'm surprised they didn't announce a new line of compatible amiibo instead like every other 3ds game is doing these days. If they really wanted to cash in on physical dlc it'd actually sell well unlike this junk.

Really, you should be grateful for YW and its influence on Pokemon. Without it the series would remain stagnant shit like gen 6. The more cues SM takes from YW, the better. And no, I don't mean battle system, which obviously is specific for each series.
