What do you expect him to do say "oh wow ash jus luk at all da bullshit happening to u. let me take the l so the other guy can beat u?" Hell no, he wanted to win the league as much as Ash did.

Ash didn't know what Alain would have brought, so Alain had a massive advantage at the start. Regardless of that, Ash still managed to take out 5 of his mons. Greninja vs Charizard was bullshit. AG already showed that Ash had what it takes to become a champion as far as power goes, and DPP revealed that winning a league is only a small step to becoming a master. Ash should have won Kalos.
