all hacks I tried so far were terrible.

Light Platinum or whatever is overdesigned bullshit throwing too much at you in the beginning.

Team Rocket GBA hack is awful because you have so many mons coming at you that two pc boxes will be full of them by the time you reach 3rd town in Kanto.

Shiny Gold GBA is still in beta, inauthentic as fuck and only done until you reach Fuchsia City

Shiny Gold is like ten years old. It was impressive for its time but we have better hacks out there now. If you want an accurate Gen 3 Johto, try CrystalDust, though it's also in beta.

I've only played LightPlatinum, Glazed and Moemon sprite hacks. I liked Glazed the best, but it's not great.

Are there any ROMs with original music? It gets pretty anticlimatic when you fight important trainers in LightPlatinum and the trainer theme from RSE plays.

I used to like Shiny Gold back in the old days. but now I'm having a tough time finding actually good rom hacks.
Only ones I can still enjoy are things like Puppet Play 1.8 and difficulty hacks like Drayano's

Glazed can be fun but is about as easy as XY with the EXP Share on.

Snakewood is like they couldn't decide if they wanted to go ultra edge or make it about le epik maymays
