>>28608787A lot of these ones come down to taste, I feel. Gurdurr definitely feels like they were trying to go for the same type of shit as Machamp but kind of fucked up the concept. With Patrat, though, I don't think the line is that bad. It's a nifty concept and they didn't fuck it up too bad. Musharna really doesn't stand out as good to me, but doesn't seem overly shitty. Seems like a generic design for her type. Darmanitan I feel similar, seems people like it or hate it. The genies are eh, I wasn't a big fan of the dragons this gen either, trubbish I agree was total and literal trash, eelektross I feel comes down to taste again but whatever, scraggy line I agree, and the fighting karate-men kind of feel hit and miss. I said that a lot, but they're not any more humanlike than hitmonlee and hitmonchan. People tend to either agree or disagree with that sentiment yet again, but what can ya do.
Overall, they introduced a shitload of pokemon, and that was the gen that they really specialized stat distribution which was pretty cool. But yeah, when you introduce that many pokemon there are bound to be a bunch of garbage ones. I don't dislike the fact they went for so many, but I also appreciated Gen 6 going for a lot less and trying to focus on better designs rather than just "more, "variety", and so on.
