Compare Gale Wings Talonflame to Gale Wings Staraptor. Staraptor has way more power behind its Brave Bird and is less weak to Stealth Rock. Talonflame's Flare Blitz gives it the advantage in breaking through steels, but Staraptor's Double-Edge lets it beat Rotom-W, while Close Combat lets it KO rocks and still deal solid damage to steels. Staraptor's greater power also mitigates Talonflame's speed advantage - Staraptor Brave Bird gets a lot of KOs than Talonflame misses, so it doesn't rely on fast U-turn nearly as much.
