There are French myths involving beasts that are serpent/mollusk hybrids.

Mollusks have been a big part of French life for a long time. It's not surprising to see them depicted in many aspects of French culture.

Wigglytuff has a rabbit-like appearance. There's some Japanese legend that deals with shadows on the Moon looking like rabbits and those rabbits pound craters into the moon.
The Jigglypuff line isn't even pure Fairy type.

That's not a reason for a Pokemon to have Dark typing.

The only Pokemon from Gen 1 I can think of that deserves Dark typing is Hypno, and that's only based on a single instance in one game where a Hypno chases a child through the woods to put her to sleep and eat her dreams.

Spearows are about as "evil" as houndours. Oddish lines is poison because they are foul, not because of actual poison (unlike belssprouts, which deal with acid and shit). Hell, oddish line could've been a candidate for fairy, too, as it is involved in magical shit and the moon and night. Mankey line is about as evil as scrafty line, ghastly is poison because it's mean. As it's body is composed of gas which can suffocate, but it learns no real poison moves on it's own, implying it has no real poisonous properties.

This part is not necessary, in fact it's a complete waste of time, aside from its ability Durant isn't worth using.
In BW truant Durant was used as a lead for Battle Subway, you just put a choice scarf on Durant, use Entrainment, switch into Dragonite/Gyarados and set up DD.
