>>28633512Because if you actually kept every Pokemon solely to their real life regional habitats you would end up with some pretty boring shit regions in the long run. If they ever revisit another european region you would end up with pretty much the same core animals sans a few different regional legends if they dig deep enough.
You would also have to say goodbye to every Pokemon that is not natural to the regions we had till now. No lions, zebras, ice bears, parrots, koalas etc. Even some of the fossils would need to go like Archeops. If you were strict about the regions it would just greatly hinder what they could come up with. It might be good for some niche animals, but you can only come up with so many different colored rats till it gets boring.
