>>28637485Aerial Ace is "Tsubamegaeshi" in Japanese, with the name coming from Sasaki Kojiro's technique "Tsubame Gaeshi", which was said to be so quick and precise that it could cut down a swallow in flight. Due to this nature, it often gets turned into an unavoidable strike in many media, just like in Pokemon.
This should also tell you why pokemon that have nothing to do with being an "Aerial Ace" (let alone can fly) can learn the move, as it was a technique consisting of two sword strikes, one upwards, then a second downwards in the same direction. (Also referenced in the move's animation)
