Even if this was fake, There was a bomb scare in new york recently, I highly doubt police weren't on high alert, especially in central park of all places.
Even if this is "Fake" they'll still get jail time. Not to mention, guy deleted the phone content, so he likely sold it to a pawn shop, which police can easily track, find the shop, get the seller data and hunt him down.
Doesnt help his face was caught on film by several people and sent to the police either.
