Since you can rotate pokemon and still use a move that said pokemon you rotated in one move, certain pokemon that have crap coverage, and/or benefit well from stat boost moves or etc like: dragon dance, shell smash users, Contrary Serperior, and choice item users have a better time here. You could also let's for example have a debuffer pokemon with sleep, paralysis, poison or etc inflicting moves to wear off the pressure of powerful threats right off the bat. Of course you really do need to predict your opponent well, but for the AI, it seems to be not that intelligent.
