I mean, it's not the most original idea, but it's better than "A LEI BECAUSE IT'S HAWAII" or "A SANDCASTLE BECAUSE THERE ARE BEACHES" or even "A POORLY DRAWN BEAR".
Also, doubting the quality of a game based on ONE character design is a bit harsh, even by my standards, and I hate at least 50% of the new pokemon we've seen so far.
