I guess I still have some thinking to do, but in the meantime I'll see if I can find Pidgey-food at the store, at least until this little guy can hunt and fly and do everything he does normally on its own.

I can definitely avoid those two, a Weedle got into the house a few summers ago and while I was trying to move it outside I must have spooked it and it stung me. Not an experience I'd like to repeat. My son won't be home until tomorrow because he's at a friend's home, so I'll give it some thought tonight. Thanks to both of you.
And don't worry, even if I decide my son's ready, I'm not going to give over this Pidgey until it's at least... lost the baby-ness, I guess. It seems to fragile and tiny right now. I guess it raises that parent instinct in me too.
