Yeah, sadly it'll be too gimmicky to be actually useful in most cases.

I've done some simple calcs and there are a couple of spreads that let eevee tank one strong hit, with enough EVs left to invest in speed so it can outspeed the following turn and gtfo with baton pass.

But it'll have a hard time outspeeding anything above 110 and it with a spread of 0/0/192/0/192/120 (the most optimal I've found so far) it can hardly survive any stab move coming from a 130 base attack (not counting things like Life Orb or Specs/Band, in which case eevee can't tank shit)

It's a pity it can't hold eviolite if it wants to use it's Z-Move. That would make it way better.

This scenario will never happen, but it's almost a guaranteed sweep outside of ghost pokemon.

I can see eevee being lc ubers easily. +2 adaptability return, baton pass, and +2 220 base stored power and then a 4th utility move like quick attack/healbell/wish seems really good, tho lc is where fighting types reign supreme, so who knows

I wouldn't really mind all that if Eevee's base speed got buffed to at least 75 or something. Smeargle at least gets by outspeeding stuff like Bisharp and Scizor, and Eevee gets those sweet defense boosts if they're a problem.

That is indeed pretty scary, considering bastiodon resists normal x4 (it does have only 60 base HP though).

The recharge turn would hinder its viability a lot, but I guess it could be a good last resort move.

Having to sacrifice the item slot for it is why Z-Moves won't be viable.
It's just not worth it for one attack per battle. Eevee's is the only really good one, but it's exclusive to it so better Pokémon who could go without a held item can't use it, and it's likely if generic similars even exist, they won't be as good.

togekiss uses follow me, eats up any fighting move with ease. Eevee gets its boost. Baton-pass to something else.

Anon, this move is made so that little kids can use Eevee in game, see some long animation to get hyped up, have their Z-ring (tm) toy light up and whatever and use it in-game. It seems clear that the entire concept of Z-moves isn't competitive viability at all, it's just to give you some flashy animations for the kiddies in-game. If some end up good competitively, then that is a side effect.

It's still frail as shit without investment and likely has to take a hit before and after boosting. Adaptability doesn't help terrible coverage much, and there's a host of scarf users that out speed it even after doubled speed.
