I don't understand. Why didn't they make Delta Emerald? We didn't have a Pokémon game in 2015 for the first time since 2008, but they could've EASILY thrown DE together. It would take very little effort.

They wanted to mercy kill this gen instead of saving it like they did with gens 3 and 4.

Gen 1 and 2 can't be really looked at through the same lens as later games, they stood apart in more ways than one.

Gen 3's first two games were bad but the gen was saved by improved remakes and more importantly Emerald's amazing postgame.

Gen 4's first two games were bad but the gen was saved by Platinum and the remakes.

Gen 5 was actually fucking good from the start but memekids whined about W...WHERES MUH ZUBAT AND GEODUDES?????, the sequels were incredible as well, no remakes were needed since PWT provided all necessary nostalgia.

Gen 6 was an abortion. The remakes failed to save it because they left behind so many of X/Y's improvements (customization, autorun with fast skates, ect, ect) while bringing few of their own.

Because if they made Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire/ and Delta Emerald then why would anyone with a brain buy ORAS? It doesn't make sense as a business standpoint. One version (DE) would be superior than the others. I would understand a 3rd version for new games like Platinum was to DP or Emerald was to RS but for them to give us a remake of the third version is stupid. And you're stupid for thinking it.

BW1 was fine but then you realize you have been fighting a shitton of trainers and all of them have 1 or 2 pokemons in common, not to say that place that had 3 fishermen and all of them had teams full of nothing but basculin, playing BW2 after BW1 feels so much better because of all the variety of pokemons avaible for you and the NPCs.

To have Delta Emerald and Pokémon Z wrapped up in one game, and get two regions in one game for the first time since Johto?

I mean think about it. Zygarde and Rayquaza are both green serpentine protectors. The DE portion would take little work. I don't think they would cut into the development time for Sun and Moon significantantly.

I would much rather them have done this. I get the impression they started working on Z but scrapped it to focus on SM, which is why the Zygarde stuff got pushed there. And this way the 6th gen could wrap up in 2016 with a decent redemption, and 7th gen could debut in Q1 2017. It'd be slick.

I swear to you people didn't even play Black and White 2. Aside from Pokéstar Studios forcing you to sit through it, (sorry if I brought back vietnam-style flashbacks,) the games were great. Much improved over B&W. It was basically like Banjo-Tooie.

BW2 is hardly the same as the third versions. They went the extra mile to add a lot of new towns and places and change existing ones.
The story and stuff is also completely different, not following the same template of the first two games like the other third versions do

I feel like the entire Z/Sun and Moon affair (because for fuck's sake, ORAS is bad, but they should have made that good, Delta Emerald is baffling useless, the third game we deserved was Z or XY2) has more to do with Nintendo than with GF, and specifically with NX.
Think about it, every generation has a gap year, so they knew and we knew that we weren't going to get any new pokemon game in 2015, and we know that while XY took few years to develop (thanks to the 3D modeling), ORAS was a rush job just to please the meme community.
The beginning of 2015 is when

Since is pretty much confirmed and expected that the NX is going to be a portable console with a system to play on tv, I feel like Nintendo wants to show the strength of the concept with a good lineup of ported game from both Wii U and 3DS (beside some new ones), and having a pokemon game is a given. In this scenario, having a new generation, slightly more younger skewing, on NX is more appealing than having a third version/sequel
tl:dr Nintendo meddled because this fall's game is going to be ported to NX and they wanted a new generation, so Zygarde was cucked into an anime stroyline/side quest for the new game, even if it makes no sense to gather those stupid Zygarde cells away from Kalos

It's highly likely that it is just going to look cool. And it's probably going to have some cheesy-ass delta episode esque postgame story that you finish in 5 minutes and feels as satisfying as eating a hotdog minus all the decent toppings. HGSS are Gold and Silver only in name, they used every improvement from crystal on the games with just different flavoured pokemon here and there. if ORAS did the same with Emerald that wouldnt be such a problem, but they decided to base themselves on the paired versions which were flawed and uninteresting, obviously it would end up like that

They *should* have made the Gen3 remakes be like HGSS where they took the remastered game as the base and edited it with the encounter lists of the original.

Just like they did with HGSS.
Just like they did with the American release of Red and Blue. (Which contrary to common belief, are actually ports of the "remaster" game of Gen1: Blue. They just used the encounter and trade lists from Red&Green to make the American Red&Blue.)
