I think morelull's evo is going to thematically be a bioluminescent fungus functioning as a nightlight with a sleep inducing gimmick. It's named after morels just because they liked the sound, I believe.

I think Morelull will be another pretty girlmon. Paras is probably still the cutest, Morelull is close second. They're all great besides Amoongus. I would love a fungus type.

I really dislike the name Morelull btw. Maybe they wanted to distract from the fact that it's more likely based on Psilocybe Venenata, or another magic mushroom, if anything. I wouldn't mind an actual morel-mon someday though, they're wrinkly and cool.

the main issue with Fungus becoming its own type is creating enough Fungus type attacks.

All I can think of are mostly spore-based attacks: Spore Dance, Spore Scatter, Spore Cloud, Infection, Magic Spore, Fungal Growth, Fungal Power...

Grass (mushrooms are parasitic to plants)
Psychic (obvious)
Bug (some mushrooms grow inside bugs and controls them)

Not Very Effective against:
Fire (obvious)
Poison (Poison types are already poisonous)
Rock (mushrooms can't grow throw stone)
Steel (same as above)
Fungus

Weak to:
Fire (like Grass, it would easily catch fire)
Rock (mushrooms aren't very robust or durable)
Fairy (faries are the protectors of the forest, and protects the plants from parasitic mushrooms (considering removing this one actually))

Paras/Parasect is pretty much the only fungus I like thus far with Morelull looking interesting but my expectations for it are low.

A fungus type seems like it would almost be a direct copy of the grass typing. I seriously can't think of very many practical differences between the two in game mechanics.

Considering my love of Parasect you can imagine my frustration with the lack of love GameFreak has shown him. His signature move should have become something non-psychic mind control-y years ago after they introduced that battle mechanic which only makes sense in a game filled with references to ESP and psychic abilities.

I'd change the super effectiveness against psychic types to super effectiveness against ghosts, dark and/or poison. Referencing the tendency for mushrooms to flourish on rot in dark places.

I'd probably also remove the resistance to fungus since fungus tends to be very "cannibalistic".

Fungus should not be a type. Grass-type is already fitting since "Grass-type" is not the same as "Plant-type".
