Deep down, I'd say a fair amount of people on any board have some affection for the board they post on, and by proxy, for a fair amount of the people on it.
4chan has no upvotes or any little trinkets to let people know you found your post funny or nifty. I can't tell you how many times I've found something fucking hilarious or cool or what have you, on any board. But you just don't go around reply to every single one "hey nice post. I liked it. Very amusing"
So you never really get feedback from the community that way. In a way, that's just how 4chan is. But I honestly think we all keep coming back because of the board. Some boards are a lot more shitty than others, but we are all here, aren't we? Day after day?
For the majority of lurkers and oldfags there's no reason to be on a board like this past a few minutes when there's no news or you're my actively seeking something like information or whatever.
Truth is, I hate underage shits on the board. But I love the way the board deals with them. I love the stupid shit that makes me laugh in every thread. I love how no matter how many times someone posts X, some retard will always go and then post Y in response. I like the stupid shit people say and do. Sure it's not perfect, there's plenty of annoying shit you wish the mods dealt with better but that's just how imageboards like this work.
And that's 4chan. It's a special type of love and hate you can't experience anywhere else. I'll never know the faces of the people who either drive me nuts or make me laugh and I joke around with day after day for years. A little bit sad in a way.
But I do think there's some love here. There has to be if you're an oldfag that STILL hasn't left.
