>>28708752The point is, each Totem Pokemon's type seems to coincide with their Trial Captain. Lurantis and Wishiwashi are the Totem Pokemon for Mallow and Lana respectively. Which means there is a Normal-type Trial Captain.
So if both Passimian and Oranguru, who's abilities are double battle-oriented, leaning off of the calling in an ally aspect of the Totem Trials, are Totem Pokemon, that'd mean there would be a Fighting-type and Psychic-type Trial Captain, but they'd be version exclusive.
And seeing how we've seen quite a few changes to the games to make them two different experiences, I wouldn't doubt GameFreak would have characters exclusive to each game.
