I'm confused as to why Steel is also weak to Fighting. I figure it was because Gen II was balance mode engaged, and Fighting was almost useless in Gen I, so they made it destroy both of the new types, but... I can't really think of a good reason that would matter now.

Basically. All Aurorus needs is its HP and Speed swapped and a bit more added in its SpAtk to break 100, give it Power Gem and maybe another coverage move like Surf and boom. A solid glass canon.

Typing is garbage, you have to baby it to keep it from dying to a mach punch and it doesn't even take advantage of it normally and requires egg moves to even get ice attacks worth a shit. High effort, low reward: the pokemon.

A sauropod with 123 base speed doesn't really work though, does it? I guess they should have just tried a different typing like Electric, or if they wanted to do something with Rock/Ice they should've used a different dinosaur that would actually fit as a glass cannon like an Ornithomimus.

Steel might just be one of the best things that can be put on it. Ice alone has 4 weaknesses and only resists itself.

Though another anon suggested putting Poison on it. That'd give it 5 resistances and 5 weaknesses, with no 4x.

-a germ stuck in ice

Any offensive Pokemon (because nonoffensive Rock types are garbage by definition) will get outright oneshotted by any STAB 2x attack and even some nonSTAB 2x ones when it's frail or attacker is really strong, so the only time quad weaknesses matter for them is when facing priority. So far we've got those in Fighting, Steel, Ghost, Water, Ice and Dark types (I don't count Accelrock because it's mon exclusive, nor abilities because they can go both ways).
Rock in general has a very short end of the stick because it's weak to half of those and doesn't resist the other three. Rock's second problem is its resist/weakness layout that has awful synergy with most other types. Either you're wasting Rock's own scarce resistances to get double resists (way less effective than two different resists) and therefore much more weaknesses than resistances, or you end up with something like Bug/Rock or Bug/Grass that have few weaknesses but almost no resistances (and are also disqualified for having bad offensive synergy). The best second type it can be coupled with to become as priority-proof as possible is with Water - Steel and Water weaknesses gone + Ice resistance added while already resisting Normal. Rock/Fighting has usable resistances + great offensive synergy. Rock/Flying is even better defensively, but needs some anti-Steel coverage. Everything else part-Rock is awful.
Then again Rock in general is awful because it has to rely on lol Stone Miss and lol 80BP Gem. Truly the second worst type.

At lest with Ice you can do things like Kyurem and just have it be really powerful and spam ice beam.

Something like x/x/x/140/x/95/ can just slap a choice scarf or specs and start killing things.

Bug's most spammable move is Uturn. But Bug is weak to SR so it can't Uturn. You need a secondary typing that resists Rock like Scizor, Heracross, and Genesect or something that makes it so strong that it gets by despite the bug typing like M-Pinsir.

Why not just make Rock an offensive typing instead? Pokemon like Terrakion, mega-Diancie and Aerodactyl are amazing for offense and support, and it's all because they're fast and have high attack.

Weavile is not a good choice for that job. You see, talonflame gets an ability that allows it to priority attack with high damage moves, weavile has no such thing and in fact no good priority moves. So, you're stuck with a pokemon that will get ONE move in and die, and the move is not even priority.

It's a shitmon people force into their teams because waifus, nothing more. And if you can't see how garbage it is, then you need to get out, sub1200 shitter.

This is a nosense. Most of rock type mons are based on rocks and minerals. Rocks don't move themselves so is logic they are slow. And rocks are sturdy, so is logic they are defensive too.

The irony of this is that Rock type has 5 dangerous weaknesses that makes it impossible for them to be a great defensive mons.

Making more Rhydons, Gigaliths and Carracostas would be repetitive and pointless, fast Rock types can exist (Aerodactyl for example), they're good and there's not enough of them.
Old Pokemon like Omastar and Kabutops also need a buff, Kabutops was clearly meant to be fast.

It's more or less on par with Rock, being better offensively (just because its attacks are accurate) but worse defensively. Has great offensive and "defensive" synergy with Fighting, Ground, Ghost and Electric, making for great wallbreakers and revenge killers, as well as STAB priority. I'd kill for a mixed Ice/Fighting with triple digit base speed.

Even though Celebi (and Exeggutor) have 7 weaknesses, they also resist nearly the rest of the type chart, resisting great offensive typings so it really isn't the worst, not even close to the worst.

I've seen this argument before but I still think Ice/Rock is overrated offensively. Special wise, you are stuck with power gem, while physical wise you are stuck with Icicle crash. Only Skill Link gives you full power with both STABs and you are still resisted by Steel for both.

I think it's either Ice/Grass or Dark/Rock. Abomasnow and Snover are the only contenders for the former, and we all know how they fare. But the only one with the latter type combo is Tyrannitar, and Tyrannitar is so powerful that its type combo doesn't hinder it as severely as it should. If any other Pokemon gets the Dark/Rock typing, and it's worse than Tyranitar, they will most likely be not very good.
