Anyone else feel like when looking at the official Pokemon artwork, the anime feels more sacchirine and misses the atmosphere of the core series?

If I were to judge the series based on game artworks, I would think an actual anime would be a shonen series.

I don't know how to describe it, the anime is more mild and insipid when compared to the games.
