I do at least like that they all have yellow as a base so it makes for a R/G/B/Y color scheme. That part is nice.

And I don't think they're actually based on the three wise monkeys, see no evil/hear no evil/speak no evil, but if they are it should be more obvious. That's a great idea.

The Pansage/sear/pour are based on the speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil monkeys respectively.

The evolutions are delinquent versions of the monkeys (Yankee, Bancho? (it's kinda hard to pin down), and Gyaru) likely because they did not heed the warnings. Sage being crude in speaking, Sear being corrupted from things they overheard, Pour caring about appearances.
