Do you prefer the idea of Pokeballs that shrink down like in the anime, or how they are portrayed in every other media, where they are always big?

the idea of shrinking and expanding pokeballs seems vastly unrealistic. why and how could a technical device like that do this?

it's weird too because there seems to be no button to trigger that mechanism at all.

Having gotten one of the plush pokeballs that are supposed to be full sized I can say it's too damn big to be convenient. So I like the idea of shrinking even if it makes 0 sense.

Many ways. We don't have a material with these sort of characteristics yet, but it could be some sort piezoelectric substance that expands when current runs through it, a material that experiences large amount of thermal expansion, or just a balloon.

The concept of expanding Poke Balls is more realistic than the basic premise of Pokeballs, the one being that they are essentially portals into another dimension/remote location.

Could also be that the shell of a Pokeball is made of tiny panels that aren't drawn on actual Pokeballs, and when triggered, the panels fold in and contract the entire size

The white button did a lot of things. It expanded/shrunk the ball, it triggered the capture/release beams, it opened the ball up, it was very multi-functional

I figured they should be about the size of a handball or tennis ball, enough to carry multiple easily but not enough to have a practically unlimited supply on hand.

I think the shrinking is neat as it allows easier carrying and the potential to carry a lot more. But I kinda dig the old buttonless pokeballs a lot. And I really dig the see through ones.

Can you imagine how horrifying it is for the Pokemon in those see through balls?
>Every time you are released from your eternal, glass prison, you are greeted by the sight of the world HURTLING past you as you are thrown into the sky, spinning around at a stomach turning pace, and then vomited out into the world. Lord forbid you go against an enemy Pokemon, and you end up being thrown at a GIANT enemy before being freed from your prison.

yeah, that was what stopped me from enjoying pokemon too

everything else is so grounded in reality but then these fucking expanded pokeballs always ruin my immersion
