Same. I try to think that the trials will ve fun replacements for gyms and offer more excitment than them.
You can lose all and any hope for the UBs and Skull though.

I'm fairly hyped, but I know to rein it in
Honestly the only way I'd be disappointed is if it's a totally straightforward, regular pokemon game. All my hype is from the way it seems to be going buckwild with the UBs, weirdly named pokemon, and potentially no league

Personally, I'd keep it as low as zero, or negative even.

That way, new stuff will be more exciting by comparison, and if it's bad you can just go "I knew this would happen".
