I feel the same way. Even if the pirated copies can do everything a legal copy can, I prefer to buy the games. It's nice physically owning it and putting it on my shelf, and knowing it's tangible and mine. Plus, I'm supporting a team that has made 7 generations worth of Pokemon games now.
I don't judge people for pirating because you bet your ass I do it too occasionally (there's no fucking way I'm paying to see Micheal Bay's TMNT movies or Sausage Party). But I feel like as a game hobbyist, one should understand that if you like something, you generally ought to support it with a purchase at least.
