I imagine every different type would need very different consistent, daily, training regimens--so monotype trainers would make a lot more sense. Heck, even Pokemon that share the same type, or even species, probably have unique needs.

Plus, we'd have to deal with all that Pokédex crap about friendship and strong bonds to achieve Mega Evolution or friendship/affection evolutions.

Some would be easy, like Gogoat. You wouldn't have to feed it, since it lives off the sun, and you could ride it around freely. Others, like Snorlax would be fuck-ton hard since you have to pratically feed it a whole warehouse of food. Though, perhaps it'd be useful for restraunts, since it doesn't feel the reprecussions of rotten food.

i had the same thought a couple days ago

especially for pokemon like lapras, wailord, gyarados and others - the big water types
that would be kinda impossible. i got tiny rivers in my area but nothing were they could really swim

and in the end...
the life with like 70% wouldn't work at all

What we do about angry pokemon attacks? You would need a tank to stop something like Onyx or Aagron if it got pissed off. There's a lot of pokemon that no doubt would try to eat people that you wouldn't think about, and for some the canon already hints at it happening.

Suddenly pokemon just got a lot darker.

And at the beginning people owning any pokemon will in 90% own naturally friendly/harmless pokemon and all evolved species will be these one which can be evolved via evolution stones (like some eevolutions, lilligant etc)

If Pokemon were real humanity would've gone extinct well before evolving into homo sapiens from having no special powers and being piss week. The place of top species on the planet would be taken by the most intelligent and resourceful Pokemon.
Unless you mean if Pokemon appeared in our world out of nowhere in present day. Considering the deceptively shitty state of humanity right now and lack of technology Pokemon world has it would be nothing like seen in games. They would be our rivals for territory and resources, not partners.

Thinking realistically, Mightyena is one of the best/least intrusive pokemon you can own without owning a pokemon you could put in a shoe.

- Realistic size makes feeding and cleaning up after it easy.
- Dark type, so no specialised care/equipment needed to prevent it from burning your house down or electrocuting people.
- Loyal and friendly if raised properly.
- Doesn't have razorblades for eyes, eat mountains, or have any other majorly awkward or deadly traits.

Any steel type, any rock type, anything with protect, detect, mind reader, any legendary, anything with recovery options

That always seemed like the best reason for owning a pokemon to me. One of the central premises of getting your starter in most games is to protect you from wild mons in tall grass, anyway.

We don't know how thick the skin of certain Pokémon is. I mean we have to use special rounds to kill things like elephants or rhino. That isn't saying something the size of a squirrel wouldn't be taken out by most bullets, but to just think that guns are these all powerful god machines isn't true either.
