>>28808875I consider them my least favorite games, but looking back I had a lot of fun with them. With the introduction of wifi I had traded more times and with more people in about a month of playing than I had with all previous pokemon games put together. The underground was cool, I had a lot of fun messing around there with my friends. The physical/special split was a godsend. It also brought back a lot of mechanics from gen 2 that 3 ditched. The poketch made good use of the touch screen and is something I wish would make a return.
In some ways I liked the region because it seemed comfy, but it felt like there were a lot of towns that were just there. They didn't have anything to do in them.
Fourth gen is by far my least favorite gen for new pokemon overall. Some of the previous gen evolutions are cool, like Porygon-Z and Honchkrow, but I don't care for most of them. Regardless, it felt like there were way too many evolutions of old pokemon instead of new lines.
The game speed was also a huge problem. I was going back to Ruby to move stuff over and the difference was like night and day.
Overall they're not bad games but it had some issues that really got under my skin. Combine that with the series fatigue I had at the time of their release and they're my least favorite titles. I'd still rather play them over most games, though.
