>>28810864I honestly don't think it's as much about Yokai Watch specifically as "cartoony and silly" is just what kids (and their overprotective parents) prefer these days. You have to look at the bigger picture here; the whole world is going through lots of social and economic turmoil and everyone's stressed out. People want their entertainment to be silly and inoffensive because they spend every other waking hour of the day worrying about shit.
But yeah, Rotomdex is definitely a Whisper knockoff. I don't see anything unusual about Appmon, though. Looks like typical Digimon stuff.
