Kids like the slapstick and having a loser MC to laugh at because that makes them feel superior to something (in this case, the MC of a slapstick anime) after a stressful day in the school or preschool.

That was fine when he was a beginner but not six regions, 40+ badges and years of experience later. Eventually you expect the character to grow a bit at least in some regards

Seeing how Sun and Moon is more of a comedy like the first season. I'm hoping they bring in the Yokai Watch writing team (seeing how OLM both produce and animate Pokemon and Yokai Watch) to write a few episodes.

I'm just looking forward of them showing Guzma (who I hope is voiced by Wataru Takagi, who did Onizuka and Okuyasu Nijimura) after the disappointment of Cyrus, Ghetsis and Lysandre in the anime.

The YW cartoon is literally only two years old (came out 2014).

It's also probably going to be dead/gone from U.S. television soon enough too.

I mean, that's probably for the best. You can't make it a serious shonen action series because they don't know how to make a good story without fucking it up, and they suck at coordinating battles. The fact that Ash is doomed to fail anyway also kind of dooms the idea.

At least with a comedy show, Ash can show more personality again. The only time he showed a consistent personality was in BW, when he trained alongside his Pokemon all the time.
