How crazy is it to release two versions of the same movie at the same time on theaters?

The box Legendaries switch roles, the kids appear at different points in the different films and the shinies are different. Aside from that and the odd cosmetic difference they're both identical.

I went to see it in theatres, had to drive like an hour with three friends and we had a great time. I think it was Black?

Later on, after White had played on TV, we got two TVs together and watched them side by side.

Most fun I've ever had with a Pokemon movie.

I did that with the DVD and Netflix at one point, but having two identical TVs next to each other playing them would have been more fun.

Wich takes both movies as one, together they were the fifth most succesful Pokemon movie, after the first three and Zoroark.
Though I don't know how much it costed to make and release two separate movies, no matter how similar, and seeing how they haven't done it again maybe it wasn't worth it.

Well some of them are referenced in the anime but with these two it gets confusing even by ashnime standards.
It does kinda fit how the BW games themselves exist in parallel dimentions or something, so that's nice.
