Gamefreak needs to learn that people really won't mind if they tweak or add a bunch of things to make remakes better.
If ORAS is anything to go by, DP remakes wouldn't even have the Platinum national dex fixes where they add in more fire types.
Keeping the basic experience of the game is fine, but tweaking some gym teams to be more fitting and challenging or adding in more side areas should be the entire point of a remake.
Sadly, with the move to 3D, any remakes are going to take a lot of effort and assets to make, and so making even more new stuff will take even more time, thus making them less profitable.
I doubt we'll ever see them put out a great remake any time soon.
