We know absolutely nothing other than the very tiny and basic info that they've given us. All we know is that they're 'unknown potentially otherworldly creatures' that have attacked.
Could they simply just be uncatchable boss NPCs? Yes
Could they also be special Pokemon that Game Freak is just being coy and secretive about? Yes.
We don't have enough information to know what they are, so being so hardheaded and sure either way is asinine.
