ITT: Little or slight changes to the game that would make things easier or less annoying.

Also I don't mean easier as in beating the game quicker. I mean things that would make the game less tedious.

For example,

>being able to search for GTS requests
By this last one I mean, I have Pikachu. I should be able to see every person that is requesting a Pikachu in exchange for their depsoited mon.

Do you have some ideas like this?

A "fast scene" mode for battles, in which the visual effects of a move still appear, but at many times the speed.

Allow the player to press a button to skip the transition from the overworld to a battle.

You're given the option to choose your first move as soon as your pokémon comes out of its ball - that is, during the animation. Also, speed up said animation by combining it with the enemy's, with the result that the 'mons break out of their balls at roughly the same time. Could be cool.

An "instantaneous" speed for text.

In combat, the ability to use an item - a scanner of some kind? - to read additional information about the opposing pokémon, at the cost of a turn. This way, you can be sure that the 'mon has the right nature and such before you catch it - or you can learn more about a gym leader's pokémon.

An easier way to reset a 'mon's EVs in only one stat without using berries. Like, different reset bags for each stat.

Remove PP or change how they work.

None of this will ever happen, because Game Freak a shit.

Throw a pokemon in, see whos wanting it and whats their offer, after a set period of time choose the best. Don't know how they'd make it work but if they did it would be cretty pool.

Mainly because it caters to my OCD by making moves be a multiple of ten, and by extension five.

Ultimately, the problem is that it's redundant.

The purpose of PP - ingame, at least - appears to be to prevent the player from spending too much time without visiting a pokémon center; in particular, it turns long routes and caves into challenges of endurance and resource management. This is very much a pre-2000 way to design an RPG, but that's not inherently bad.

The problem is that this dynamic already arises from another mechanic already in the game: consumable items. Rather, 'mons lose HP over time, and then you need to spend potions to restore that HP. Similarly, they get status conditions, and need items to heal. By adjusting the amount of money available to the player - in particular, by adjusting the amount that other trainers give you when you win - the designers could have significantly limited the availability of healing items, thus creating the endurance-challenge dynamic without adding anything extra to the game.

You might be thinking that just because PP is redundant doesn't mean that it actually makes the game worse. Well, I argue that it does. Running out of consumable items forces the player to play more intelligently; running out of PP (i.e. for a coverage move) prevents them from doing so. As you progress through a cave or route, your options are likely to become quite limited towards the end - unless you're the sort of nigger who uses four attacking moves on every pokémon.

What's really annoying to me is that PP decrease so much when you start using better moves. I don't think about the PP of a move so long as it's fifteen or higher, so why do the designers even include that information? What do they hope to gain by giving Flamethrower only 15 PP instead of 20? Either they're trying to reduce the options available to me towards the end of a dungeon, or they think it's going to make a difference over the course of just a few battles. The latter isn't true, and the former isn't fun.

PP suck.

They aren't to force you to go back to a pokemon center: otherwise the game wouldn't be so generous as to give us items like Ethers and berries that restore PPs.

The purpose of PPs is not to force you back to a pokemon center. It is to prevent infinite move usage.

Because having a "I always win" button is not very fun.

For most people. Some people like having a button that, when they push, immediately lets them win. Generally, these people are 11 years old and playing CS:GO using an aimbot while shouting things that would make /Pol/ chuckle at their naivete into their logitech headset.

But at certain points in the game, with certain pokemon, you will have an "I always win" button. "My Earthquake 100% OHKOs every mob on this route", or "I can just use Surf on everything here", or "Spark is strong enough to kill all these water types". It's not an uncommon occurrence.

But the game wants you to try different things and use a variety of moves, learn as you play.

They also want to prevent Infinite Fight Conditions, which there are many ways to achieve, where player A cannot defeat player B, nor can B defeat player A (Like if a physical flying type has no coverage moves and has insufficient offensive prowess on it's STABs to overcome the defenses of a Rock Type with only Ground type moves and leftovers recovery, neither can hurt the other enough for the fight to proceed to it's conclusion).

PP stall is real. Forcing your opponent to run out of PP is a viable tactic. Running out of PP yourself is an unfortunate event.

I guess I see the appeal of that, but I'd still rather that they just increase the difficulty and variety of the 'mons on a route, or do something else that doesn't take options away from the player.

No, but Flamethrower doesn't need to be limited to 15 uses, unless you really are in one of those situations the other anon mentioned. And, really, all that the limitation does is force you to go back to the 'center every once in a while.

And drawbacks can still be added to those moves even in the absence of PP, or if average-strength moves are given more or infinite PP.

If it is actually a loading screen, I can understand why they wouldn't let us skip it, but I doubt it actually takes that long to load a pokémon battle.
