You don't. It's all luck. Despite it being more popular than OU, you can see the top winning players actually have lower winning percentages than the top OU players. That's because OU takes skill so the best players win all the time, while random battles is luck so you can lose at any time to any one.

to get good at battles in general just try to predict stuff. know common sets and expect the unexpected. switch out of a bad spot, etc.
idk a lot of random battling is luck
