You could use PokeBank to transfer Pokemon. I don't have 2 systems either, so that's how I did it. Once I completed the dex in one game, I sent all the Pokemon to the other (I would recommend doing a living dex, that way you can carry them through each game).

You should get one from GTS. Breeding with 2 that you yourself caught means 1:4096, using one that came from outside of your own country takes them down to 1:600ish

It wasnt my first shiny, well for gen 6 it was.
But yeah knowing that shiny Gyarados is actually easy to get is kinda disappointing, but at least the one I found had the good Adamant nature, so I super trained it right away.

You need to train Darkrai to at least Level 50 before transfering it to BW2 for it to be able to pass through bank, because the Platimum one was Level 50, and BW was falsely programmed to only mark Level 50 or above Darkrais as legit. No idea about Shaymin though.

I suggest breeding stantler and putting them up on the GTS. I had really good luck with them being traded for quickly. If you would like a Stantler to do so, I can provide. It's not available in XY and in an odd spot in ORAS so it generally goes quickly.

It's actually such a stupid thing, pokemon is one of the few franchise that still has this huge amount of outdated concepts and mechanisms.

I can take resetting once or twice over a shiny one if the nature is shit because the rate is "only" 1:1300, but in older games it's 1:8192, so I'm not going to risk that.

Slowpokefag from last weekend. Last weekend I hatched a shiny Slowpoke at about 120 eggs without its HA. Decided to keep going only to hatch another shiny Slowpoke yet again with fucking own tempo. I know. Usually I get my shiny in 300 eggs if I'm lucky. Within 1k eggs is meh and near 2k is terrible. Well I'd rather get one in 2k eggs and have the right ability. 5 overgrow snivy were hard to take in.

Every shiny hunting method has its own risk. Friend safary may be faster but IVs suck not tat it will matter in SM nature and ability may be undesired also you can't pick the Pokémon since each safary has 2-3 mons.
MM-ing is tedious takes time but its more rewarding but the ability can still screw you over.
Shiny radar is difficult and nature may not be synchronized. Dexnav is not as hard but still tedious.

got this during a 6 hour flight yesterday. had been at a friend's house all week and forgot to game sync before i left so i only had 3 quick balls and 4 dive balls, all of which failed even with capture power 3, hence the shitty ultra ball. i only sr for fun but still the balltism got me so bad i almost reset over the shiny just so i could try again with quick balls
