So... what the fuck is the point of Generations? I know their alleged point is to "Show stuff that you don't see in the games", but none of it is interesting. With this latest one, it was just total make-believe shit with Lance coming in and OHKO-ing everything for Gold. Before that, it was just Blue being introduced to each Gen 1 elite 4 member (because they can't be bothered to animate more than one move per battle). Before that was pretty much just an example of how pokemon can be used in real-world situations, and even then it was just "they can break stuff". Beyond how boring it is, though, what's Game Freak's idea behind this? Obviously they're not making a whole lot of money from it, since they're so incredibly short and are free on Youtube. Is it to get newcomers to become interested in Pokemon? Because that's obviously not going to work, considering that newcomers have no clue about anything these episodes are talking about and they aren't really particularly cool. Is it just for shits and giggles? Do they have money to burn? What I want to know most of all, though, is why not do another episodic thing like with Origins? I mean, it's nice to get a grab bag of stuff from throughout pokemon, but why not have one cohesive story to keep people coming back? As it is, it's just four minutes of disappointing confrontation without any real action. Why not show us a new trainer on his way to becoming champion? Why not just show random stuff going on in the pokemon world, instead of "boring things that happened off-screen because they weren't relevant"?

My guess is that they're trying to recreate the success of Origins, which ended up getting people super hyped for X and Y. However, while I agree I'd like a little bit more of a plot, it's still kinda fun to just watch certain aspects of the Pokemon universe that didn't really get as much attention in the games. I always wanted to see Blue get to the champion status, though I agree that there should be more conflict, because all we've seen so far is the protagonist of the episode bowling over whatever trainer is in front of them.

>>28858386 >but none of it is interesting If you think the SWAT raid wasn't interesting, you're a liar or not a Pokemon fan.
t. someone who doesn't care for geewun wank 2.0 the cartoon but can at least admit its strong points

The dialoge seemed to be especially bad in that episode though.

>>28858452 The SWAT thing was cool, yeah, but again, no confrontation. All that build-up for literally nothing.
It's incredibly obvious that they just don't have the budget for something good; the episodes are fucking microscopic, and they're incapable of showing anything beyond random lasers flying out of pokemon as attacks.

Kanto is just shit, there's nothing interesting they could do there. You can't expect a Mewtwo origins episode, because they would gave to pull that out of their asses and create even more fanfiction

But there might be a chance it would lead up to revealing something for Sun/Moon or a future game.

Is there anything sadder than complaining about a series of free shorts on the internet that were made as a surprise for the fans?

>>28858386 I would like a pokemon "origins" alone for Johto or Unova to be honest, those two regions look interesting enough to afford having a full ova for themselves.
I like Origins and all but I feel these are really to short to really convey all that is there to tell about these stories (like Lake of rage)

>>28858528 >w-we can't make anything up, so we have to just show them nothing! Then why not make something up that isn't related to the games? I'd much rather see something with content that isn't related to the games than see something that happened off screen with nothing of interest.

I hope that it was made as an internal jab in order to push some other project, like another episodic spin-off. Since the main series has serious chances of flopping hard now that Ash is going to schooll, they need a escape route.

It's just a 20th anniversary celebration with shorts for each gen. Why do we have to complain about everything?

>>28858850 It's not a joke. You can at least explain to me why wouldn't you want an OVA about Ethan adventures.
