Gold and Silver introduced two new types, breeding, Splitting Special Attack and Special Defense, it gave Ghost damaging attacks, it gave Bug Damaging attacks, it gave you two whole leagues, notorious Gym Leaders to this goddamn day, a continuation and conclusion of Generation 1's story, events based on the time of day, or the day of the week. It was the first whole Pokemon game that was not a rushed glitchy mess, and improved on Gen 1 in every imaginable way as a good sequel should.
