Based apon the appearances of the starters and trainers, Shauna most resembles Chespin, mean in order for her to have it you must choose Fennekin, and most times in media the fire starter is chosen. and Serena most resembles Fennekin in terms of color, at least thats how I reasoned it.

That's... a very unique take on this. It sounds too far-fetched to believe. For one, we haven't had any rival's appearance based on a starter before. I see what you meant by Shauna resembling Chespin, but not by much. Chespin's main color, green, is nowhere to be seen on Shauna.

Basically, what I'm saying is that's a really far-fetched reason to believe anything.

I'm not sure if this means anything, but in the SM announcement trailer when near the end they were going through the games, the protagonists they used were

Gen 1:Red
Gen 2:Ethan
Gen 3:Brendan
Gen 4:Dawn
Gen 5:Hilda
Gen 6:Calem

Gen 5.5 wasn't there but from the anime trailer we can assume the canon protagonist is Nate. Also the ORAS anime trailer backs up Brendan being Gen 3's canon protagonist.
