In Yo-kai Watch 2 you can have almost every Yo-kai following you (and i heard in 3 it stays the same)

In Pokemon BW/BW2/XY/ORAS/SM you cant

It was ok, but hardly amazing. It also added slight delays to a lot of actions in the overworld, and a few were obnoxiously large to the point I would refuse to make them my lead.

It could have been done better, and that's why I don't care it hasn't come back yet. If they did it right, sweet, but I'd rather have Dexnav.

Why exactly does everyone care so much about the feature in the first place? I mean, it's not "bad", but I don't get how its not being present in later games is a fault when it's so inconsequential.

Then again, they use the same models for the overworld and battles, unlike pokemon, so I guess it makes sense.

Following Pokemon was just a halfassed version of Amie/Refresh. Only sinnohfoeti make a big deal about it.

There's no chance of it coming back now that we've moved to 3D. It worked fine with sprites, but with full size models it becomes impossible to adapt that feature to every Pokemon. All aquatic and big Pokemon would get excluded.
And a small part of fans care about that shit, you would cry if your favorite couldn't follow you

Aren't pretty much all Yokai the same size as the humans tho?
The ship has sailed, we would need an empty open world game of they wanted to bring them back.
This is why they used the rental feature this time too, flying on a Pidgey and surfing on a Marill is impossible with realistic 3D models
