I dunno. The progression the geography of it has been weird.
>Gen 1: Honshu Island, Japan, Tokyo prefecture, dat urban environment; South America mentioned as location of Mew's discovery
>Gen 2: Kansai region, Japan, West of Kanto and culturally very distinct
Gen 3: Hoenn based on southern Japan; Orre region in the Gamecube games based on real-life Arizona, USA (made me feel comfy as fuck being from the Southwest) but somehow also coastal, Sevii islands based on islands off the coast of Tokyo
Gen IV: Sinnoh region north of Johto, based on northern Japan with dat icy climate; part of Victory Road based on an island that is disputably Russian
Gen V: First main series game outside Japan, based on Manhattan and New Jersey, USA; dem subways, dem refineries, dem cities
Gen VI: Motherfucking Europe, new continent right off the bat, based on Northern France and British Isles
Gen VII: Hawaii, interesting choice in that it sorta combines them picking another American location and them picking another Pacific Island/something that the US and Japan kinda overlap with culturally
Things I'd like to see, some of which could overlap:
>region based on California, since it has so many different environments in it and so many locations to choose from (Mojave, mountains, ice, snow, San Fransisco, LA, harbors, highways, cities, valleys, etc.)
>Pacific Northwest-based region
>more Southwestern on Western US-based regions
>a Bavarian-themed region, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Northern Italy
>a South or Central American location
>Aussieland or New Zealand
