I had an idea for this. First stage is a cute, dopey rat that's known for tripping on its own tail, Normal.
Mid stage is a larger, famished rat, whose tail is tangled with the tails of the bodies of multiple stage 1 rats. They weigh it down, but it can also use its tail as a flail-like weapon.
Final stage is Normal/Ghost Rat King, made up of dozens of entangled stage 1 rats, only the "true" rat's head poking out from the top. It wears the bodies to keep itself warm, and to act as armor. Abilities would probably be Fluffy/Thick Fat.
