What exactly makes furry and dragon designs so much more "creative" than pokemon designs based on objects? This seems to be the universal view, but I still can't quiet understand it. Shouldn't it be the exact opposite because you're making an animal out of something isn't an animal instead of just recoloring an existing animal?

Many people thinks ugly = bad. But they don't understand that, if GF wanted to create a trashbag Pokémon, GF would make a trash kaiju. Obviously, a trashbag isn't cute, so it's stupid think they would create a CUTE trashbag.

Many people only thinks in fug their Pokémon. You only need to see /vp/ and the number of threads about Braixen and Gardevoir.

If a Pokémon isn't humanoid, furry or a dragon, they will think it is a bad design. There are exceptions. of course, but it's more usual see a fan of those kind of Pokémon hating other less attractive ones.

Actually I think humanoid pokemon get about the same amount of hate although perhaps from a different group of the fanbase. Humanoid fighting and psychic types in particular save for a select few are hated here and unpopular even in other websites

I'm not sure. I love designs like Garbodor, Claydol or Probopass, but I don't hate furry Pokémon.

I think the people who have unusual designs as their favorites have greater ease in assimilate furry designs while some are incapable to assimilate any Pokémon that is not an animal or dragon.
