So which city of Alola will be the new Castelia, Mauville (ORAS version), Lumiose, Jubilife. Goldenrod, Saffron?

Is it the one on MeleMele island? While it seems big it doesnt give me a biggest city of the region vibe, if anything it reminds me of Slateport, Hearthome or Celadon. Then again i cant find anything else as big on the map

It's based on the largest city in Hawaii, the Capital Honolulu, but they could make a different city the largest one. The angles don't really help with size on the map. That, and it seems more like it's focused on the Waikiki Beach strip and Honolulu Harbor instead of the majority of the city itself. The some of the other cities look like they have more because of this.

Its just odd that the biggest city in the region seems so small

Specially with the latest gens having such a big ones

Lumiose was huge but there was nothing in it. It was big for the sake of being big, showing off what they could create.
If the big city in Alola is large because there's actually shit in it to visit or do, like Slateport, I'd be more than satisfied

The tourist trap section, Waikiki and Waikiki beach, is what is marketed the most to the Japanese/ tourists in general, so maybe they wanted to focus on that. The harbor is also where the cruise ships park/ it's a pretty nice harbor. It's clean enough for coral growth and everything. From what we've seen, maybe we're in for a lot of medium sized towns with a good bit to do. The two Japanese towns they showed off and the multi battle town all looked pretty busy. Plus, we have a lot of facilities on/ near routes as well. The buildings are multi tiered, so there is hope it's bigger than it looks in the picture. Have a night time view of Waikiki for comparison to the pic.

Alola in general seems to have very few cities, town. I can see only 10-11 on the map

This. The problem with Lumoise is that there were like 30 useless cafes but not much in the way of substance to counterbalance that.

I personally hope that the biggest city in Alolan is treated like no big deal, but if they really want to make it unique, they should base its scale on Castelia City.

There might be a city with more people (ala Celadon vs Saffron or Nimbasa vs Castelia) but this is defit the biggest. And yeah, this feels pretty small compared to most.
