Are you serious? There are barn owls, sea lions, koalas, dancing birds, schooling fish, and countless others. There are versions of old Pokemon with completely different typings and appearances. There are alien creatures that might not even be Pokemon. Come on man, one of them is a buff mosquito. TELL me that doesn't stand out. Just about EVERYTHING in that pic stands out because of how different it is.

also, gen 5 had tons of legendaries, which barely count as Pokémon

I dunno, Anon. We have quite a few stand outs already.

The thing you need to remember is that the games haven't released yet, and we don't have the full dex. Several of those Pokemon are still likely to have evolutions or pre-evolutions.

In the long run, it's better to wait until release and to see what all of the Pokemon actually have to offer. We're currently in a transitional phase where the Pokemon are new and they can feel rather awkward.

It's best to acclimate to them first before fully coming to this opinion.
